Many months ago I watched a video (or probably a live streaming) with Doug Proper -among others- in which there was a part where he talked about necks weak point in the heel area and other stuff such as neck relief terminology. That topic keep buzzing me in the head, is possible to have a proper (small) discussion about that? I have a couple question

I went to add some relief and found that the wood around the truss rod keeps the 4mm hex key from engaging. Any suggestions on how to hog out enough wood to get access? Working through my first refret. Trying to straighten the neck before radius sanding. What should the natural relief look like when straight? Using a straight edge there’s always slight gaps somewhere. Does natural neck relief start at a certain fret?

when setting up acoustic guitars, from time to time I have a lot of trouble with getting the G string to ring true when fretted. Starting from lower frets and at its worst at about the 5/6th fret, the G string buzzes when plucked "heavily" (when no other string does so)...most recently a Taylor 724 which had a neck adjustment to reduce action (to 5/64-4/64), relief about 0.003 or 0.004. I inherited a 70's D28 that is a players instrument. The action is too high for me, but the saddle is bottomed out. There is no obvious belly bulge. The top of the bridge has been shaved. Hey all, I have a customer that brought a mid 2000's Gold Jazzmaster to get a suggestion on what to do to the neck of it. I have an epiphone 335 style guitar on the bench right now. Bad fret buzz on the first frets. No relief in the neck. Pretty Clear its a trussrod adjustment and out the door it goes. But the truss rod is stripped out pretty bad. My 4mm allen fits, in but it has a lot of wiggle. My 5/32" allen doesnt slide in all the way. I dont have a full set of torx wrenches. Hi all! Has anyone some tips about a maxed out trussrot? I have a Squier strat with a relief of 0.24. I've bring it down to 0.14, but that still twice the amount I want it to be. The trussrod is maxed out, I can't turn it more because I think its gonna strip out or break or something. Are there some workarounds to lower the relief even more with a maxed out trussrod, or is it what it is?

Breedlove Roots D/SRH (basically an HD28V) on the bench with a non functional trussrod. Wrench will engage, but the nut just spins and no change in relief in either direction. I have a D-35 that has… 1) a drastic bow in the neck 2) quite a shallow neck angle So diagnosis is, without an adjustable rod, I will need to compression fret this neck to get it back straight, and then proceed with a neck reset.
