New fretboard modeling tool

Hi everyone. I just wanted to share a new (free!) tool I made, a website for designing fretboards. https://fretboard.buzz. It's similar to FretFind2D, but modernized, with many more features, including fretboard markers, a 'flip' for converting any design to lefty, support for mixed units of measure (use both metric and imperial at the same time), etc. I spent months building it, I would love to get your feedback. Thanks!

Breedlove Trussrod Removal/Replacement

Breedlove Roots D/SRH (basically an HD28V) on the bench with a non functional trussrod. Wrench will engage, but the nut just spins and no change in relief in either direction. Pretty sure the nut is stripped at the rod end, but due to the neck block design, there's no way to access it without pulling the neck. Anybody ever replace a trussrod in one of these? The neck is a bolt on, and the fingerboard extension is glued down, so only…

I've replaced many a truss rod on Taylor's. Same neck bolt design with glued on fingerboard. Only difference is the adjustment is at the peg head. But they can be dug out at the heel and slid out. I t…

New build review

Hi all, I have my next bass guitar design on CAD and in drawings. My designs are pushing the size envelop. I would like to have a good thorough review of the design for strength at the neck/body union, playability as string spacing is 13mm and neck is very narrow (1.6"), string pitch at the headstock, strength at the headstock/neck union etc. I'm willing to compensate for your time. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

That looks super cool! Is that going to be a neck through design? I see maybe a truss rod slot at the heel. Definitely looks like a small neck pocket area. Curious what the neck pocket/neck attachment…

Headfirst into the CNC deep end today

I'm the proud new owner of a "new to me" Fireball Meteor CNC machine. It feels really odd to have a computer in the shop but I guess I need to get used to that. Fortunately for me, I am well versed in CAD, unfortunately not so much on the CAM side of things. My 3 kids are all experts and are steepening the learning curve dramatically, this would be overwhelming if they weren't helping. So far I'm using the Fusion 360 personal use versio…

Here's the video of how it's going so far, skip to 18:48 for the CNC part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyoosBNV6xQ Pretty good I think but I still have a long ways to go. My youngest son and I did g…

Trevor Gore Book

It appears that Trevor Gore's book' "Contemporary Acoustic Guitar Design and Build - Second Edition" is not available at this time. Anybody have a used copy they don't want or need? Or suggestions where to find it? Thank!

Does Blender have CAM? To me that's the thing that keeps me in Fusion, integrated CAM. If you're running a CNC machine, and you frequently make changes, to be able to bounce back and forth from the m…

Sweeping a sketch

I am currently drawing up my bridge design in Fusion 360. It has been a lot of fun and has gone really well so far. But I am a little stuck on rounding over the belly. I could easily put a fillet on it. But I want a little more round over on one side than the other. So I made a sketch on a plane of the curve I want to have. And then I try to sweep it across the belly, and it works, but it stops just shy of both ends where I want it to s…

Actually tbh I don't know how you could do a longer path on that bridge profile. Project include would just do what you already had.

Insufficient Downpressure on hofner violin bass bridge?

Hey y'all, just been tasked with setting up one of those hoffner violin basses — they're strange but fun things, this is one of the modern reissues but it still has the bridge with the frets hammered into it for saddles. The owner plays in a punk band and has had issues with the low E string jumping out at times. I assume without some way of getting the tailpiece to be held down rather than at the angle it wants to be, the best option w…

Thank you! Feels like the best way to go about it with the least change to the instrument, but still wanted confirmation from someone more familiar before going and doing anything permanent. Failing t…
