Let me start with this; I'm trying to find the root cause of difficult fret wire installation of two different SM fret wires. I'm using hide glue on this 1st build. So far I've glued up the kerfing, back braces, and the top "X" brace. I'm using the 190 grade glue. Working time is short at best. I heated the top "X" brace surfaces (brace & top) with a blow dryer and that seemed to help, a little. What support or bracing is common around a soundport that is placed on the upper bout at the edge of the instrument, where the lining or kerfing typically holds the guitar together? I've been able to find info on direct top or side upper bout soundports, but I haven't had much success when looking for the support structure once you've cut into both the side and top. Any resources or tips would be appreciated.

I had a very unique instrument come into the shop yesterday. It's an American built Weissonborn/lap guitar (*spelling). This is a simple but effective setup for cutting fret slots quickly and accurately. Ryobi table saw with a crosscut sled and saw blade with a kerf to match fret slot thickness. The sled has an indexing pin for using fret scale templates with notches. The blade alone sells for $163 on Stew Mac. I also have another blade for sale.

I recently put a strap button on a 2023 Woolson Soundcraft (Paul Woolson) guitar, and had a look-see inside. It has a sound port, and the sides are about 3/8" thick. There is no kerfing, the back and top appear to be glued to these thick sides instead. The web site says it has a "double top". Anybody ever hear of double sides?
