GoBar deck adjustment
Hi folks,
I thought you might be interested in this approach to having easy height adjustment for a GoBar deck. I learned this tip from my buddy, Don Parker. He lurks around here too from time to time. :)
The basic idea is rather than having a booster platform on the base for use when gluing braces to plates you bring the roof down lower. There is a 3D printed spacer in black in the pics. I linked to a downloadable STL and 3MF of it in case its useful. You basically flip the spacer to above or below the roof depending on the operation being performed. Pretty slick really.
The spacer is designed to be used with a GoBar deck that is 1/2" all thread vertical posts (hidden inside the PVC in the pics). I also recommend the threaded knobs for the top for easy adjustment.
I construct my GoBar decks with a torsion-ish box (just a lattice of vertical supports inside, no laps, that's crazy!) as the base and doubled up 3/4" plates for the roof. Pretty standard stuff. However, I do put the base on a commercial grade lazy susan to make it easy to spin around for cleaning the squeeze out.
