Hi Folks. I have a new Gibson L-00 retro on the bench. It came in because the saddle had pulled forward and was extremely loose in the slot. the saddle was a narrow affair measuring out at 3/32. It had buzzing issues as well because saddle was low and neck angle is actually high (straight edge is 5/32 above bridge). Previous looth tried to correct by shimming saddle but recommended me for bridge work. I re-slotted the saddle slot wider (it does have a nice, deep slot but also a piezo wire, taking up some of the depth) widening towards the back of the saddle so as to keep thickness to front and not weaken the bridge. Made a new, wider saddle hoping wider base would help with bridge flex at front. Unfortunately the bridge still flexing at the front. It seems to be stable and stay in tune but I'm worried it will eventually fail. I think a combination of neck angle being high (although string brake angle looks to be OK if at max high angle) and too small a bridge is what's happening. The guitar is still under warranty but I've read where others are having the same issue and my thinking is that trading in for a new one might give a guitar with the same problem. Also, since I've worked on it, I'm assuming the warranty may be void. At any rate, wondering if others are experiencing this. I anticipate installing a new, wider bridge to take care of the problem. It comes stock with 53/12 strings. May also try lighter strings.
