Help needed identifying real PAF
Hello estimable friends,
A very long-term friend of mine left us on Christmas Eve after a long illness. His sister tasked me with evaluating, restoring, and selling his stuff.
Today I'm preparing to restore a 2008 Longhorn GOM to its original EMGs. Pulling out the humbuckers I see a Pearly Gates and… what looks like an original short-magnet PAF.
Correct shape brass screws for the bobbins, UV light confirms sticker and tape, tooling marks on the legs and bobbin also tick the boxes. I know for a fact he had a 61 Les Paul 50 years ago (I often played it) and had the pickups switched to DM Super Distortion when they came out as was the period "wisdom"… don't ask. The LP is long gone, but this pup might very well be original to this guitar (short magnets).
Among the fine folks here, who are considered expert at identifying PAFs? I'll send more detailed pics to this person to make sure I'm not mistaken.
