Hey guys, a little help? I'm trying to recreate the old PRS wiring (rotary switch) but instead of the rotary, on a 5-way superswitch.
I managed to get almost everything but I can't seem to figure out the series/parallel positions and it's starting to hurt the brain. I've looked everywhere online but I can't find exactly what I need.

Hey Gerry, thank you! I'll try that other wiring, although it looks very similar. And yeah, it's funny because the noisiest position is #3, the outer coils in series. I thought that being in series was actually going to be hum cancelling. But not even position 2 and 4 are that noisy. I've checked everything about 7 times but can't find the problem. I'll try this other diagram and let you know.

I would love to say I was getting close but in all honestly I was way off. I saw Gerry's video on complicated wirings and I understood everything a bit better, but a complicated wiring like this one really got out of my league. Which, by the way @member if you guys could make another event where you can go deeper into this subject would be awesome, because (at least for me) even though I "kinda" understand what you did in your diagram, it really got me scratching my head quite a bit and I would love to understand it fully. So, just for your consideration :)

Hey @member . I'm here again. I have a couple questions. I followed your diagram and although it works, being that every position does what it should, the guitar is really noisy now, in positions 2 and 4 but specially in position 3 where both coils are in series. It sounds as if there was a disconnected ground somewhere. I checked but everything seems ok.
Now to my other two questions: both the red/white connections say "neck", this is ok as I just figured out which was which, but now I'm thinking if it has anything to do with the noise. And also, there's no "bridge green" separated as it is on the neck. So again, I just assumed it was correct and connected the bridge green to ground along with the bare wire.
Am I missing something? I would appreciate the help since for the life of me, I can't figure it out on my own :(

Regarding the neck green wire it should not be connected to ground directly. When it needs to be grounded, it gets a path to ground via the switch. It's done this way so that, in position 3, we can take that green wire and connect it over to the other pickup to enable the series connection. Can you check this and let me know how it sounds.

↪ Private memberSuper-noisy doesn't sound good. It may be that some of these positions won't be hum-cancelling on your pickups but super-noisy sounds more like something else is wrong. I just tried this on a my prototyper and haven't wired stuff up . That's usually a reasonable indicator but maybe there's something I missed. I had a poke around and found a slightly different diagram at https://guitarelectronics.com/2-humbuckers-5-way-lever-switch-1-volume-06/. Maybe worth having a look at that.

I was about to toss in my crude attempt at this diagram, but got here a bit late. I'll post it anyway so it can be critiqued and/or corrected.
Edit: Absolutely not working as drawn for humbucker modes. Back to thinking.
Edit 2: I now see my other mistake was making positions 2 & 4 series and 3 parallel. Exactly opposite what was described. I blame the fact that I have also been thinking about an HSH setup with modified series switching.
Ignore this diagram, but I will leave it for archival reasons.

EDIT EDIT: on 4th look it won't work. Now I'm not sure that switch will get you what you want. This puzzle is going to haunt me all weekend.

Some things I keep in mind when trying to figure out a switching scheme. If you want access to each coil in each humbucker then all the leads need to either be "lifted" (have there own switch tabs) or if using the typical humbucker wiring, ie red and white together on a Seymour, then you'll need to be able to tap it and reverse the phase at the same time. Since you have a super switch, each coil can have it's own pole and be "lifted". Just follow the signal like it's plumbing, water in water out.
If no one else replies with a schematic I'll do one as soon as I sober up on Monday or tuesday.
