The Hub

I have a "fender", which I believe is a knock off, in my shop. I didn't immediately catch that it was a fake, but as I worked on it it's become fairly undeniable, in my opinion.

For the neck — the fretboard is made from two pieces of rosewood, the headstock decal doesn't look right, the truss rod is metric, the tuners don't look like a MIA Fender, and there's no walnut plug on the truss access. The model name being wrong is suspicious, but not out of the realm of possibility for a bolt on guitar.

For the body, the electronics clearly aren't imperial types (although could have always been swapped, it's happened before), and the routing also looks suspect.

Now I'm left wondering what to do about it. I feel like I have some duty to bring it up to the client, but is that the best thing to do in this situation? They didn't say they thought it was real, or that it was fake, just that they had a bass guitar that needed fixing. So perhaps they already know it's not a fender, or perhaps ignorance is bliss or it's just not my place to say.

First time dealing with a problem like this, so I'm curious how you all have gone about it in the past! Not gonna do anything crazy like destroy it or deface it, but just in terms of if and how I talk about that aspect with the client.
