Hi all, new to nut slot work world, please can you help me with this mystery?

fret levelling, neck relief and string action adjustment all completed to Fender 9.5" radius spec. very happy with that. the next step: 0.011” High E string’s nut slot was a bit low.

I used Dave Johnson’s (MI Guitar Craft Academy) “q-tip slot raising method”: the pulled cotton strand, plus extra thin CA glue, to fill the slot, then trim it off once dry, then file it down with a 0.013” slot file in a flat motion (Squire Jag has a scooped headstock, Dave recommends always filing flat unless working with a tilt-back headstock), and finally gently sanding the slot 2000 - 7000 grit to smooth everything out. For good measure, I then brush and vacuum slot to get rid of any dust.

result? the most sitar sound I’ve ever heard on an electric guitar.

I thought... maybe the cotton hadn’t fully absorbed the CA glue, and there's just loose cotton somehow still in there. so I tried the same process with the (currently too shallow) B string slot, but this time ONLY just filing and sanding the slot to the required depth and smoothness, no cotton involved.

result? absolute sitar-ville, again. strings with perfect 1st fret action but a hell of a load of sitar buzz.

please help? not quite sure how much more accurate I could be with this method
