Hi Everyone, I’m working through building my first set neck electric, an LP Jr. I had some build questions…

- if you’ve built these Gibson style set necks before, did you cut the neck pocket straight and angle the heel of the neck? Or did you cut the pocket at the angle and keep the bottom of the heel straight? I’m attempting to cut the pocket at an angle, and it isn’t the easiest thing to do, I’m finding out. First, I’ve had some movement of my 3degree shims, but I think I just need more tape. Second, I’m having a hard time finding a router bit to go deep enough. I’ve got some tube extenders for the shaft, but I don’t wanna go too shallow in the collet. I think I need a 1.25-1.5” template bit in 1/4 shaft size; no luck finding them. Maybe they’re dangerous? Haha

- Regarding gluing on the fretboard, is this something usually done after gluing in the neck, or before? I feel like I’ve seen examples of both. Banker guitars has posted picks of his explorer builds with the neck glued in and no board. And I’ve seen a vid of Ivison radiusing his board while attached to the neck, not glued into the guitar. Any pros or cons to either approach?
