Expanding Blush on Martin DM
We had a Martin 1997 DM come in with all the binding falling off. Got that all glued back on and it needed some minor finish touchup down on the lower bout. This clouded like typical moisture blush does, but doesn't behave like typical blush. We can't sand it off, can't buff it off, thinner and butyl cellosolve (blush remover) both cause it do dissipate while it's wet, but as soon as it cures back out, the blush returns. Temperature in the spray room stays in the mid to upper 60s with humidity around 43-45%.
It occured to me that it could be the flattening agent in the finish precipitating out as it cures, but I have no idea how we would prevent that , and the blush area has expanded as we've messed with it.
Has anyone here run into something like this, or have any suggestions? (Following up with a photo)
