Just got a Martin M38 in the shop with several issues:
1 - hole in the side from an ill-advised (!) home attempt to install a strap button

2 - bubbling of the neck finish over the entire length

For #1 I'm thinking I'll use Ian's scoopie technique after applying an inside patch.
For #2, the neck also has some good sized dings in it. I'm thinking of gently sanding off the old finish and bubbles, filling the dings, and then applying new finish to the entire neck
