Paint chip out matte finish
Hey everyone,
Well I had a bit of a day today.
The issue is a paint chip out on a matte finish 3 month old Ibanez RG 421.
I was in the middle of a pup install and was backing out the screw holding the 5 way switch. As you can see from the pics there must have been some paint sitting above the screw and well viola!
I thought it best to try to glue the chips back in but I used accelerator (BSI) because well I’m a dumb ass and it looks like it reacted with the chips leaving what should have been a slight cracked look to… well what you can see now. Finally in testing the screw fit, of course it went in just fine but backing it out took out 2 chips again only this time breaking the first chip off.
I tried in an inconspicuous area to test to see what the finish reacted with and acetone melts it, but so does the C.A glue I used which is BSI (Bob Smith Industries) and until now have never had any issues with it. I ran out of my glue boost fill n finish hence the reason I used the BSI.Anyway where to go to from here please?
