Hi all. I've just joined the group....I'm pretty certain what I'm asking here has already been covered somewhere but not really sure at the moment how to search chat topics. If so, and it's easier to just point me to an older chat...please do so! I'm in my 50s, been playing guitar for as long as I can remember. I'm a trained wood-worker (amongst other things) and am looking to start a new journey into guitar repairs. At my age I can't afford the $$ or time to go to some full-time in-person school. I have been considering an online course option, the thought being it makes sense to me to do something structured so all (or most) of the basics that I would need to start offering my services are covered, rather than me trying to piece together all the education I'd need via online vids etc. But I'm not convinced I'm right about this. Does it make more sense for me to pocket the $$ I would have spent on a course and put it toward luthierie tools and old beater guitars for practicing on? And then use somewhere like here to acquire the know-how on all the various topics? Thanks very much for any advice. Looking forward to being part of the community!
