Neck Shim spreadsheet
First time here on the forums, not sure how often I'll check in, but thought this the best place to post it.
Was playing with an idea proposed by Buck Van Laarhoven on a parametric model for bolt-on neck shims, and found the formulas I wrote up translated easily to Taylor and conventional acoustic neck joints so decided to add boxes for those as well.
I'm not well versed in Google Sheets, but couldn't see a way to upload the file directly for others to download and play with. I think this link can be viewed and edited by anyone - not sure if that's inviting a mess if multiple people try to edit at the same time, but again, I don't often work in Google Sheets. Hopefully all the formulas translated proper from Excel to Google.
Brief summary, yellow cells are for data entry, blue cells contain formulas for results so try not to mess with those. Top three cells are universal and affect all results. Cells in the separate Bolt-on, Taylor, and Acoustic Neck Reset boxes only impact results within those categories. The current Taylor box is only for standard heels, I may add options for short heel models like the GS Mini later.
This was thrown together rather quickly, so if anyone spots any errors in the math or results please let me know. Not sure where the potential for use is, possibly 3d print or CNC'd shims, maybe just as a quick reference to let you know what gauge pick to throw under a Tele neck. In either case, I'll try to check back in here, or can usually be found on the LoothALong most weekday afternoons.
