Good morning folks -

I am working on a guitar right now using Angelus dyes and Mohawk lacquer. I used two light coats of the "coffee" colored dye and, after drying, moved to Mohawk Sanding Sealer, Lacquer, and then Matte Lacquer to give it the final desired finish.

What's odd is that after staining it, when the body dried, it looked more olive drab then coffee colored, but as soon as I hit it with the sanding sealer the original brown popped right back out. Fast forward a few weeks, I'm getting around to finishing the guitar and got so far as to get my bridge laid out before quitting time yesterday. I left it sitting on my bench near a window in the evening sun not really thinking anything of it. The attached picture shows what I came in to see this morning. The brown patch under the bridge is the color that the whole guitar was at 5pm last night.

I know a lot of guys have great success with Angelus dyes and many use Mohawk lacquers. Are they not compatible? Did I skip a crucial step? I know now not to let it cool like a pie on a windowsill, but that can't be the only answer. People play their instruments outside all the time.

Any help would be awesome!
