hello everyone.

I received a 5-string fender jazz bass with a damaged truss rod.

They broke the bullet, and, not happy with that, they replaced the bullet with one whose thread was of a different size, damaging the truss rod.

I saw that several take out the skunk, replace the truss rod and put it back or make a new one.

My question is, has anyone ever tried to remove the bottom part of the heel, to remove the truss rod and place a new one in there, instead of removing the entire skunk?

Would this be harmful in some way?

Is it too absurd an idea?

PS: I'm from Argentina, and buying a Fender neck or even a non-Fender one is neither cheap nor easy, which is why I'm taking that job.
