1917 Gibson U-type Harp Guitar

I’ve had a customer come to me wanting to electrify the guitar without any modifications to it. No drilling, routing etc. I did convince him an end pin jack would be the only mod I would make, and he was ok with that. After a little thought, I thought, a K&K with a microphone (K&K Mini Pro) might work, using the transducers on the six string side and the microphone on the ten string side. I have no doubt the transducers would work fine.…

Just a follow up, K&K is making a custom 3-4 transducer system for this. Vance at K&K was a pleasure to work with... thank you Vance!

National Triolian - Fishman Resophonic/Lipstick pickup rewiring

Hey everyone. I’m trying to figure out a wiring scheme for a modded National Triolian resonator guitar. It has a Fishman Resophonic end pin jack pickup (link to that is below) as well as a lipstick pickup that was installed along with a three way switch, and two potentiometers. Essentially what I’d like to do is wire it so there is one volume control for the lipstick pickup, one volume for the piezo, and the three way switch controls eac…

Covered versus uncovered humbucker A/B testing

Hey, fellow Looths. I need a small favour… Short version: Go to https://statuesque-cocada-438199.netlify.app and listen and vote. It takes about a minute. Longer version: A friend’s son is studying music and audio production in college and is working on a project to test the covered versus uncovered humbucker question. He reached out to me for some help and I’m reaching out to you. He designed a solid experiment (even modding a guitar so…

Variation on the Gilmour neck PU always on Strat Mod (series linked)

Hi there! I am trying to find an schematic to make a circuit I'd like to try. That would be the Gilmour neck PU always on Strat Mod but in a way that connects that extra pickup in series with the rest instead of paralel like in the original gilmour circuit. The thing is I don't even know if it possible to do it that way or how many switches woud you need to do it in the simplest possible way. If you have any feedback, clues, tips or whate…

I should mention for completeness that it is possible to rewire the internals of the pickups in order to add a separate wire to act as the pickup's ground/shield. It tends to be a pretty fiddly job th…

Strange Saddle Mod

Hey hive mind! Has anyone ever seen an acoustic saddle modded like this? If you have, what's the purpose of this notch under the b-bump? A client dropped off a bunch of guitars for repairs and setups this weekend and this saddle was in an early 2000's Larrivee dreadnought. It has a factory installed K&K Pure Mini under bridgeplate pickup and sounds great.

Yeah, I've seen that with undersaddle pickups to tame a "Hot B" string. But never on a K&K.
