I usually build flat top guitars and usually joint the tops and backs with a Stanley no 5 style of hand plane ( only different brand). I want to build an archtop instrument, and the wood blanks I have are longer than usual and, of course, a lot thicker. What size plane do you use for kind of job? Would it be easier with a longer plane (6 or 7)? Thanks! Jorge

Here is a super basic thing I just modeled and 3d printed. Small drill guides to place a 2mm hole directly centered in the side of a fretboard. I made a few sizes for different fretboard thicknesses. Seems simple but its a huge time saver.

I've seen the Elevate Luthierie jig, and it seems simple enough. One thing I don't like about their explanation video is the handwaving around "set the joint length where you want it"...feels like even with the jig, you have to do too much measuring to make it fit exactly (or within the tolerance you want) Given I can model well enough in Fusion and have a 3D printer, feels like a challenge to take on! Is there a Pneumatic Fret Tang Nipper out there or did anybody ever combined a Tang Nipper with a pneumatic Plier? Or maybe it is possible to take the Stewmac Tang Nipper (i like the new version) and modify it? I always make 20-40 Sets of frets ready so i can make a lot of fretboards ready in one day. But after a while my hand really hurts. Thank you

A while back, I remember seeing a headstock repair jig that had been #d printed in this forum. AS I dont have a printer or room for one, would anyone be willing to print me one of these jigs and I can pay you for your time and materials to do so? I would love to try out printing my own tools/Jigs, but I just dont have the time or free change to put repairs on the back burner to set up and learn a printer

Should a CNC be able to cut a perfect looking circle? I'm trying to make solid wood rosette rings. I made the tool path a profile cut. The top and bottom of both Y positions come out uneven in width than the rest of the ring. I've tried slowing down the feed and plunge rate, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Dropped my old crappy digital hygrometer. What are the hive’s recommendations for a trustworthy one? I’m leaning towards an analogue one like the StewMac one but am open to suggestions.

Yesterday a friend and I built this wall mounted cabinet for repairs that are drying or need to get out of the way. Does anyone have suggestions for material to pad the shelf bottoms with? I’ve used carpet in the past but am curious what others use. Thanks!

Maybe a dull topic but I just happened to find this Conn Strobotuner at an antique shop for a "decent" price. Works great, not sure if I'll use it in place of the peterson strobe app on my ipad but in conjunction for certain jobs . What do you all use as your main bench tuner?

I'm fairly new to CNC and am attempting to set up for a fretboard carve. I'm using a one year old ShopBot Desktop Max. This is the first I've found a problem like this. I made some practice blanks and thought I had everything the way I wanted it until I measured me fret distances.
