74 Les Paul Broken Headstock
Guitar fell straight down on the headstock when it was hanging up at the refinishers. Shit really does happen! Grain is pretty much shattered around the adjustment nut. Thinking I’ll replace the entire broken area with a completely new piece of mahogany. Scarf it in between the volute and 3rd fret. Probably even a 3 piece lamination to mimic the neck. This one was not the clients fault so the expectations for looking close to original a…

Broken Scroll on Mandolin Head
The previously glued scroll on a mandolin headstock has broken off again. I've seen Frank Ford's fix, where he routs and glues in a spline, but I am wondering if there is a simpler fix for a less expensive instrument. Thanks.

Headstock re-break and old glue residue
I have a Gibson Chet Atkins in the shop with a nasty headstock re-break. The headstock was broken off previously and repaired (at another shop). Since the headstock is hanging on by the headstock veneer I can't really open up the crack enough to clean out the old glue residue that's deep inside the break. I'm looking for advise as t…
Gibson headstock fix questions
I have 1988 Gibson ES-335 with a broken headstock. It was poorly glued before and is broken again. I can't get the broken faces of the wood to close up due to the mess of glue or whatever is in there. The headstock overlay is the only thing holding it together. I have a couple of questions: - Any idea what glue was used to attach the headstock overlay? Is it easy to remove cleanly? I'd like to at least loosen the part of it on the neck…
Presentation and first post
Hey there! Newbie here. I thought it would have been cool to show just a pic of a current work I'm doing for a customer. Basically this was a brand new bass, never played, cause it was delivered with non uniform fretboard, a broken truss rod and warped neck. I had to remove the old fretboard (ebony), reinstall a new double action truss-rod, compensate the eight of the fretboard with 2 layer of black veneer (since this is a neck-through t…
