I picked up a set of these chisels a couple years ago at an estate sale. They were in a very sorry state but had clearly been used and loved. A Gagliano Jumbo probably made by Kay in the 1950's. It looks like this had a previous neck reset based on the shims and some sloppy chisel work. I removed the 14th and 15th frets because I had read that these might have a straight tenon. I didn't need to drill any holes for heat, as the spruce shims both split in half after the fretboard extension was released. A while back I saw a Canna Guitars video on Instagram and thought his use of the “wave” scarf joint between his neck and headstock was an interesting use of CNC. But it got me thinking about other options, and this idea percolated in my brain: Cut a regular scarf joint, but then using a CNC cut a tenon into the neck, and a mortise/dado into the headstock. This is a Kamouraska classical guitar, model 111, made in Canada in 1979. Internet information says it was made in La Patrie, Quebec, and later the line became La Patrie guitars. It looks like someone has been into this one before as the dovetail fit was poor, the gluing is very sloppy, and there are some rough chisel marks on the face of the heel. Good morning group! I just joined The Looth Group today. I'm wondering what folks are currently using to sharpen chisels, plane blades, violin maker's knives. Is there a jig you would suggest? What stones, or are you using something better, easier? I know sharpening is a whole world unto itself but I'm looking to up my game. Currently using Japanese water stones and an inexpensive one wheel guide. I'd like to do better. Thanks! Spidey
