modifying waverly tuners

Gibson Roy Smeck Radio Grande 7 string! in for tuner replacements... Currently has faulty original grovers, wants waverly titanium that I'd have to modify the plate shape to fit---and drill a new lower hole mount to avoid new holes drilled in the headstock ( around the "e" in waverly logo; and new plate hole and old plate hole would intersect by a whisper ). I'd have to remove the cog to mill & install, but the mounting screw head has c…

I know you're looking for the best ways of utilizing the Waverly tuners, but perhaps using tuning machines that are a better fit (maybe without drilling new holes) would be a better solution.

1950's Gibson L48

I'm not sure this belongs in this subcategory, but not sure where else to post it. Could use another set of eyes and expertise on this. Customer came through yesterday wanting to sell a 1950 Gibson L-48. It's been played and loved quite a bit, but despite that it plays and sounds very well. I got these at 6/$100 from Stewmac (https://www.stewmac.com/parts-and-hardware/tuning-m…

But…… The scariest thing is how to handle customers and the things they love. So far, I’ve been able to test the waters on repairing fairly inexpensive, not too attached to instruments, easing my wa…

I think this is something that every one who does this job struggles with — probably because there's no good answer. There's no one-size-fits-all. What I do (and probably what most of us do) is explai…

Definitive Collaborative List of All Things That Rattle

Hello looths worldwide ! I once heard on the Loothalong Grace talking (figuratively) about for a list of all the things thay may cause rattle in a guitar, and after fighting with a setup lately I'm in for starting this list, from the headstock down : - Old strings : replace the strings. - Loose tuners : tighten the ferrules, tighten the screws (on the buttons / on the axis). - Nut : create a funnel for the strings to ease the path to the t…

I got the wrong idea about this forum. I thought we’d be talking about experiences that rattled us during our repair escapades! Since I’m way at the back of the pack, pretty much everything rattles me…
