Retopping a ladder braced Stella - dimensional questions

I am repairing a damaged Stella parlor guitar. The original top was birch, plain sawn at 0.100 inches thick, ladder braced with multiple beefy braces and irreparably split, warped and generally separated from the sides. I want to keep the instrument ladder braced with a movable bridge and upgraded tailpiece, all firsts for me. I would be grateful for input on 2 issues. 1. The new top is Adirondack spruce that I’ve reduced to about 0.110…

I don't have much to add but I am working on the exact same guitar at the moment and had a question. How did you get the neck off? I'm doing one of my first few neck removals on this and it isn't seem…

Possible ground loop in Tele

Hello all, got a problem in a telecaster I rewired that has me in a twist. The basics: friend has a 2001 US Standard telecaster (left handed not that it matters). He bought it used and says it was quiet initially. A few years back he grabbed the pickups out of it and moved them to a new tele body with a torrefied maple neck he preferred. Recently he upgraded the new build with a Lollar CC tele set, and asked me to reinstall the original…

Well, another update: I rewound the neck pickup, and flipped the polarity, so now the set is RWRP. Everything wired back up, and when the pickups are in series (position 4), it's dead quiet. The buzzi…

Total vise work station

Hey everyone! I bought a proper work station and after some moving around have it in a good spot in my shop. It’s proving to be a huge upgrade now that I am getting used to it. I know people have been getting creative with modifying and adding new features to it. If anyone wants to share their ideas I am looking for inspiration! Thanks!!!

7 Lug Tone Pot?

I have a Fender Jazz Bass Special in. Looking to upgrade some caps and resistor per client. I found this "TBX"? tone pot inside. I don't think I've encountered one with the additional lug on the back end. Any help as to if this is a TBX or similar and the functions of the pot? Thanks!

Hey Mike Have never seen a TBX quite like this and I don't remember seeing one of those 'extra lug' pots used in a guitar but this does make some sense. The extra lug on a pot like this is generally a…

Squier Debut Series Stratocaster - 6 Month Update

This is an update to a video that I put out about 6 months ago where I gave an overview of a Squier Debut Series Stratocaster. Since then, I've been using this guitar as my main shop guitar, and this new video covers how its held up, and what upgrades I did to it since I got it. The previous video I did on this topic has been the most successful one on my YouTube channel so far, and I'm trying to regularly make videos showing some of wh…

Floyd Rose Special Replacement Parts

I'm in the process of setting up a Parker (PDF-80 Maxx Fly Floyd Rose Special; Early-2010s) and one of the Floyd Rose saddles (G string) are stripped. Found exact replacement parts on StewMac and ordered in hopes of just swapping out one of the saddles and not having to replace everything: https://www.stewmac.com/parts-and-hardware/bridges-and-tailpieces/bridges-and-tailpieces-for-electric-guitar/floyd-rose-tremolos/floyd-rose-special-s…

CNC machine which one.

Hello, I just went to the Northwoods seminar and came away with ,maybe it's time to get a CNC machine. So I'm curious which one do you have? Why did you purchase said machine? At this time I don't want to buy an entry level machine. I would prob start with making bridges, templates, jigs and other assorted small parts. Maybe necks at a later date. I would like a machine that I dot have to upgrade in one year. Would also prefer a spind…
