Sharon asked me to come up with a 3D printed version of a bridge cradle to replace out old (crude) way of holding bridges at the bench to clean them up after removal and prep them for regluing.
Originally, as most of us do, we used a block of wood with screws in it to index the bridges against. Later we upgraded to an aluminum T-bar with screws tapped for different string widths. They worked well enough but none of them really held the bridges in place both top side up and upside down.
After a few minutes in Fusion 360, I came up with this little guy. On one side it holds the bridge, top side up to clean the bridge and allow full access all around. The other side indexes against the curve of the top of a Martin style bridge for cleaning up and prepping the bottom of the footprint before gluing.
I made up a few different ones for various bridge pin spacing. I also added a specific one for Taylor Bridges at their standard 3/16 string spacing and unusual offset.
